La Templanza Amazon Prime Video: the official trailer
La Templanza is a romantic drama based on the best-selling novel by María Dueñas set in the late 19th century. It tells the story of Soledad Montalvo and Mauro Larrea, self-made characters whose destinies intersect in an unpredictable way. Theirs is a story about overcoming adversity and finding one’s place in the world, about how an empire is built and how everything can be lost in a single day.
The Templanza will take the spectators into the tumultuous 19th century Mexican mining communities, passing through the most exclusive salons of London’s high society, up to the Cuba of the slave trade and from there to the glorious Jerez where the most sought-after vineyards were located.
“Following the global success of Spain’s Amazon Original El Cid series, we are delighted to immediately bring new high-level content such as La Templanza to our Prime customers,” said Georgia Brown, Director of European Amazon Original Series, Amazon Studios. “La Templanza is an elegant series that captures the viewer’s attention, to immerse him in a journey without equal. It was a fantastic experience adapting such a very successful novel with author María Dueñas, as well as our partners Buendía Estudios and Boomerang TV, to bring this story to our Prime customers around the world. ”
“The stories that María Dueñas tells in her novels are very powerful and have a great visual impact: bringing them to the screen is a real challenge. We succeeded with The Time in Between and with La Templanza the challenge was even greater. It is an ambitious production that recreates scenarios from different countries and continents with an international cast and two protagonists, Rafa and Leonor, who have a great understanding. Jerez, the epicenter of the story and shooting was a magical set for La Templanza, ”added Sonia Martínez, Buendía Estudios Content Director. “It was a great honor for us that Amazon Prime Video put its trust in Buendía Estudios to make one of its first Spanish Originals. This commitment is also excellent news for Spanish productions and the television industry whose fiction is always reaching new international heights ”.
“Adapting a novel like La Templanza required a great deal of productive effort. To be at the level of María Dueñas’ work it was very important to be rigorous in the work on the characters and in the design of the set. We shot for more than 5 months in different locations with 215 sets in Cadiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Tenerife, Dublin, Madrid and Toledo ”said Tedy Villaba, Executive Producer of Boomerang TV. “We have worked with an excellent technical team of over 300 professionals who have managed to make the atmosphere of the series faithful to that of the novel. Spain has become one of the best stages in Europe and offers the possibility to put together great technical teams and to recreate in various places sets that recall various parts of the world. It was a real luxury for Boomerang TV to produce this series with Buendía Estudios with the full support of Amazon Prime Video. “
The 10-episode series of 50 minutes each stars Leonor Watling and Rafael Novoa, along with an international cast of more than 130 actors, including Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, Juana Acosta, Esmeralda Pimentel, Nathaniel Parker, Alejandro de la Madrid and Raúl Briones.
La Templanza is a production by Atresmedia Studios (Buendia Estudios) in collaboration with Boomerang TV with Sonia Martínez, Nacho Manubens, Tedy Villalba and José María Caro in the role of executive producer. The series is directed by Goya- and BAFTA-nominated Guillem Morales, Goya Award Alberto Ruiz Rojo, and Goya Award winner Patricia Font.
