After the presentation of the first watch at the beginning of the year – an All Black model that immediately became a collector’s item – Hublot and Takashi Murakami continue to decline the kawaii world by the artist, presenting the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow. This new watch, which also takes its cue from the smiling flower, the iconic theme of Murakami’s works, replaces black with color and transparency effects.
The technicians of the Hublot laboratories have created a unique setting for this new work of art, a transparent background through which it is possible to admire both the artist’s work and the complex mechanics of the Nyon watchmakers. Taking up the typical characteristics of the Classic Fusion model, the 45 mm diameter case is cut into the sapphire crystal, a technological innovation that Hublot was the first to experiment.
The flower shows a mischievous smile on a three-dimensional face that literally emerges from the clock face and around which they rotate 12 colored petals. This polychrome effect was obtained thanks to the setting of 487 stones in the colors of the rainbow: rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, yellow and orange sapphires.
Thanks to the ingenious ball bearing system specially developed by Hublot technicians, the petals begin to rotate under the watch glass, animating Takashi Murakami’s smiling flower. At the beating heart of the watch, the Nyon watchmakers have placed the caliber HUB1214 of the Maison, here without a stopwatch function. This movement has 72 hours of power reserve.
The Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow, intended for contemporary art enthusiasts, is available in a limited edition of 100 numbered copies.
