No team boasts more success than Ferrari, which has participated in every Formula 1 Championship since its first season in 1950. Under the leadership of Enzo Ferrari, Scuderia Ferrari has won 9 Drivers ‘World Championships and 8 Constructors’ World Championships, remaining all today the team with the most titles in Formula 1.
Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition
The design of the new Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition recalls in every detail the personality of the automotive engineering legend and his achievements. The color of the precious resin used for the hood and body is inspired by the “Red 70 Years” Ferrari. Two dates are engraved on the cone, the birth of Enzo Ferrari and his first victory on the track in 1923. The Montblanc emblem in yellow resin that surmounts the writing instrument represents the color of the city of Modena and is embedded in a metal grille that is inspired by the design of a vintage car grille.
The ring on the top of the cap bears the engraving “Alfredo Ferrari Mechanical Workshop”, in reference to the workshop of Enzo Ferrari’s father, Alfredo, and to his place of birth. Enzo Ferrari’s famous words are laser engraved on the ruthenium-coated metal clip of the writing instrument: “Passion cannot be described, it can only be lived”.
The iconic Ferrari logo appears on the back of the cap “prancing Horse” with the famous phrase of the Countess Paolina Biancoli “It will bring you luck”, who had given Enzo Ferrari the coat of arms of the horse that his son, the aviator Francesco Baracca, had painted on his fighter plane during the Great War. The edition is available in roller and ball formats, to which is added a fountain pen with Au585 solid gold nib with rhodium finish on which the steering wheel of the 250 GTO, one of the most famous Ferraris, and the word “Pilota” are engraved.
Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Limited Edition 1898
Produced in just 1898 specimens to commemorate the year of Enzo Ferrari’s birth, the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Limited Edition 1898 has a metal cap and body, evoking the surface of the original Ferrari 125 S engine. The two dates engraved on the cone refer to the production of the first car at the Maranello plant and the first race victory of a Ferrari-branded car. In the ring on the top of the cap it is engraved the address of the Ferrari factory, to testify the importance of Maranello, the place where his vision took shape.
The Montblanc emblem, encased in a metal grille atop the fountain pen and roller, is in satin quartz to evoke the frozen windows on which Enzo Ferrari practiced as a child to make his signature, dreaming of one day becoming a motor racing driver. The Au750 solid gold nib with rhodium finish is decorated with the steering wheel of a 250 GTO, one of the most famous cars of the brand, and with the word “Commendatore”, a name widely used for Enzo Ferrari.
Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Limited Edition 98
Made in just 98 specimens, the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari edition pays homage to the prancing horse emblem given to the founder of the legendary Scuderia 98 years ago. The cap and body are hand lacquered with airbrush in “Racing red”, the official color of the cars and drivers.
The hood is decorated with the number 29 to commemorate the year in which the Scuderia Ferrari was founded and bears the horse engraved with the words “I am someone who dreamed of being Enzo Ferrari”. The same yellow gold emblem adorns a special mechanism that allows you to see inside the body of the writing instrument. When you rotate the cone to refill the fountain pen with ink, just as you pour gasoline into the tank of a car to start a powerful engine, the image of the prancing horse appears.
The dates engraved on the cone, 14/07/1951 e 11/09/1988, refer to the two most important victories in Formula 1: the first ever victory for the team and the double victory at the Italian Grand Prix one month after the death of Enzo Ferrari, symbolizing the continuity of the brand’s racing tradition. A rotating slider in matt white gold on the body reveals the dates of five historic Ferrari victories, the first obtained in the most prestigious international competitions.
The shape of the first Ferrari racing cars is reflected in the dynamic design of the clip, decorated with the motto of Enzo Ferrari “Passion cannot be described, it can only be lived”. The base of the clip is lacquered in Rosso Corsa and is surrounded by six lines on each side, which represent the engine of a V12. The four air intakes on each side of the hood are inspired by those on the side of the bodywork of the 1952 500 F2, winner of the first F1 Championship for the Scuderia. The body is decorated on a part in forged “metal” made of solid Au 750 gold with a ruthenium finish, which symbolizes the engine of the same car.
To pay homage to its success, the word is engraved on the Au 750 solid gold nib “Drake”, another famous name of Enzo Ferrari, and the steering wheel of the 250 GTO, one of the most famous racing cars in the world. The winding perimeter of the Fiorano test track decorates the front, while the cap is surmounted by the Montblanc emblem in rock crystal with the signature of Enzo Ferrari in the center, surrounded by a complex metalwork reminiscent of the grille of a vintage car.
With this new edition, Montblanc celebrates the personality and genius of a man who has made the pursuit of speed a reason for living and with his Ferraris has given extraordinary emotions to car enthusiasts.
