Wonka film Timothée Chalamet – The actor leads a stellar cast in a story that explores the vivid and mythical beginnings of the young inventor with incredible imagination before he becomes the famous and iconic Mozart of chocolate.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Wonka” starring Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, directed by award-winning director Paul King, kicks off. Producers of the film are Academy Award nominee David Heyman, who produced the “Harry Potter”, “Fantastic Beasts” and “Paddington” films; Luke Kelly, who produced the recent film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Witches and the upcoming “Matilda”, and Alexandra Derbyshire executive producer of the “Paddington” and upcoming “Jurassic World: Dominion” films. “Wonka” is based on Roald Dahl’s characters, specifically one of his most beloved characters, Willy Wonka, and takes place before the events of The Chocolate Factory.
Starring alongside Chalamet in the film are Rowan Atkinson, Mathew Baynton, Jim Carter, Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman, Tom Davis, Simon Farnaby, Rich Fulcher, Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Paterson Joseph, the Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key, Calah Lane, Matt Lucas, Colin O’Brien, Natasha Rothwell, Rakhee Thakrar and Ellie White.
Director Paul King is also writing the film along with “Paddington 2” co-writer Simon Farnaby (along with Simon Rich, Simon Stephenson, Jeff Nathanson and Steven Levenson). Michael Siegel and Rosie Alison are executive producers.
King’s creative team includes Oscar-nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey; Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley; editor Mark Everson and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming. Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is writing the original songs for the film.
Filming for “Wonka” is taking place in the UK, the film will be released in theaters in 2023 and distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
