A change of strategy

During the first months of the conflict, Ukraine’s Western allies were reluctant to deliver heavy weaponry to Ukraine, particularly because of the backlash it might generate in Russia.

However, France, Germany and the United States have changed gears. Kyiv must therefore receive armored vehicles carrying infantry or reconnaissance tanks. The UK also recently indicated it will deliver Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems to Ukraine, becoming the first country to supply Kyiv with Western-built heavy tanks.
